Earning Big "Google AdSense" Checks

I'm sure you've seen these ads (see below right) on many websites... these are called, "Google AdSense."
Google AdSense is a fast and easy way for website publishers of all sizes to display relevant Google ads on their website's content pages and earn money. Because the ads are related to what your visitors are looking for on your site — or matched to the characteristics and interests of the visitors your content attracts — you'll finally have a way to both monetize and enhance your content pages.
Applying for the AdSense program is free, and once accepted, you only need to paste a small block of code into your web pages where you want the AdSense ads to appear.

Since the ads shown are based on your content, you don't have to search for advertisers that your visitors may be interested in because relevant AdSense ads will automatically be placed into your page! Don't worry if you have multiple websites, you can generate the appropriate code for your sites from just one account!

Warning: Do not place Adsense blocks on your sales & order page! Your main objective on those pages is to close the sale... and not to lose potential customers forever!

Why Even Creamy Vanilla Just Won't Do...

Simply copying and pasting the code "as is" may not bring you the best possible results, but there are a few "tricks" you can use to increase your AdSense income:

  • Change your link color to blue. This is the 'default' link color on the most popular browsers, and many people expect underlined blue text to be clickable (sorry, that one's not clickable... but weren't you tempted?).

  • Match the colors of the background and border of your AdSense block with your site's color scheme. Many people turn a blind eye to advertisements, and removing these 'ad warning signals' will give it a better chance of being looked at... and clicked.

FIVE-Figure Monthly AdSense Income? Really?

I know you'll find yourself excited the first couple of times you check your AdSense stats and find you've made $1 - $5 in one day! It's great! But did you know there are people who earn a five-figure monthly AdSense income? And Google sends these people their checks via United Parcel Service special delivery!

One of these people who have cracked the code to AdSense income is Joel Comm - and he makes about $500 a day from AdSense alone! Of course, he didn't figure this out without some tweaking, research, and testing... but fortunately, he's documented his findings in an easy-to-follow ebook titled, "What Google never told you about Making Money with AdSense!" where he shows you how he increased his own AdSense income from just $30 to $500 each and every day!

Spying on AdSense Clicks... and Using It To Your Advantage!

One of the points Joel made was the importance of determining the right ad format and placement, as well as finding the most profitable keywords to target on your page. To do this, he highly recommends AdSense Gold, which includes a fresh list of highest paying Overture keywords, over 11,000 content rich articles to get you started, and the infamous AdSense Tracker that empowers you with the following information (and more!):

  • What kind of content to build
  • Which ad formats and color combinations work best
  • Which search engines and keywords to optimize for
  • What ads your visitors are clicking on
  • Detailed information about every click (including the IP address of the clicker, the ad they clicked, on which page the ad was clicked on, the date and time of the click, and the original referrer that sent the visitor to your site!)

Those Pesky, Irrelevant AdSense Ads On Your Site

You might also find that the ads being served to your page is not relevant to your content... It not only looks awkward (face it, a "cheap cigars" ad sticks out like a sore thumb in a "how to make homemade baby food" site!), but that's just taking up space where a relevant ad with a real chance of being clicked could've appeared.

Here are two quickies you can use to get more relevant AdSense ads appearing on your pages:

  • Use keywords and key phrases to name your HTML files. So instead of the usual "content1.html" and "about.html" go with "homemade-baby-food.html" and "baby-food-expert.html".

  • Use your keywords and phrases in the Title and META tags of your webpage. For example:

    <TITLE>Homemade Baby Food Recipes</TITLE>
    <META name="description" content="Quick and simple homemade baby food recipes">
    <META name="keywords" content="homemade baby food, baby food recipes">

Before We Part Ways...

So you see, your Google AdSense income doesn't necessarily have to be just small pocket change... in fact, there are many people who have figured out a technique to earn more from just AdSense ads, than many people bring home from a 9-to-5 job! It would be great to hear from you if you've joined the ranks of the Google AdSense UPS "Special Delivery" club!
